Do you feel like giving up (or giving in)?

Over the past two months I have been attempting to lose weight and become more healthy. If I said that it had been easy, I would be SOOO lying. I feel like a pin cushion with all the tests my doctor has been running to make sure I am healthy. I recently had a glucose test and it turned out good. I worried about it all weekend. I had cholesterol tests, vitamin tests, blood pressure tests and blood test to check for heart issues. I have been encouraged that my weight has been coming off, but... here it comes. Honestly, we are going through some tough times right now and I have been tempted to give up. (please don't refer me to the "Sounds like life to me" song) I know that I am not the only one that has felt like giving up. It is not easy watching my food, keeping up with it in a log, and putting aside some of my favorite items.

I stepped on the scales this morning to find I had gained 2 pounds since Friday. MAJOR discouragement! I came into work in a hurry and went to the snack machine for breakfast. Not a good idea! As I stood their I realized that is worth it to change my life. I could choose the doughnuts or the Nutri-grain bar. So what did I choose? The Nutri-grain bar!

One of my problems is that when I am going through hard or difficult times I run to food for comfort. Many of us have something we run to. To some it is alcohol, pornography, drugs or some other addictive item. As a friend told me one time, "we can live without alcohol, drugs, etc. but our body will crave and need food". My responsibility is to refuse to use food (or anything else) as a crutch. I need to trust the One that made me!

I want you to know that when you start trying to live more healthy, you will get discouraged at times. BUT, remember that He wants you to live a long and healthy life. He will bring along people, scripture or His Holy Spirit to encourage you.

Whether, then, you eat or drink or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God. 1 Corinthians 10:31NLT

BTW... I gained 2 pounds, but I still have lost 27 pounds since May 14th.
